You are being asked to take part in this research study because you have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the efficacy (how well the drug works), safety (the side effects) and tolerability (how well tolerated) of vilazodone compared to placebo (an inactive substance) in subjects with generalized anxiety disorder. |
| Qualified participants must: |

Be between 18 and 70 years of age
Meet the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text
Revision (DSM-IV-TR) criteria for GAD.
