For some individuals these symptoms occur only once or twice a year, yet for others headaches attack multiple times a month. These frequent and severe headaches disrupt an individual’s life, both at home and work. Currently, approximately 17% of these migraine sufferers are treating their headaches with BUTALBITAL containing medications such as Fioricet®*. These medications produce a sedative effect that allows many individuals to cope with their migraine symptoms. There has been no clinical research to show that these potentially-addictive treatments are effective in treating migraines. Some research even states that such medications may increase the frequency of migraine headaches if used too often. It is for this reason that medical researchers are working to develop new medications that are both safe and effective for migraine sufferers.
