| Study summary: |
|
Exercise can reduce pain and fatigue and improve day-to-day functioning in adults with Fibromyalgia or FM for short. Many people with FM have trouble doing exercise. We want to study another way to increase the physical activity of adults with FM.
Study subjects will be asked to perform the following:
• Have a tender point examination to make sure you have FM
• Fill out pencil and paper tests that measure things like pain and mood.
• Do a 6-minute walk test
• Have some tests that measure your feeling of pain.
• Have a brief test of your fitness
• You will be assigned to one of two groups (like flipping a coin). One group will learn about lifestyle physical activity and the other will learn more about their FM.
• Both groups will come to group meetings for 3 months.
• Come back to the clinic when the groups end, and again 6 and 12-months later, to repeat the same tests. |
| Qualified participants must: |
