The aim of this study is to determine whether certain proteins in the blood related to inflammation and neuroendocrine function can serve as markers of depression. The study involves a single visit for a clinical interview and blood draw and a follow-up phone call 8-12 weeks later. |
| Qualified participants must: |

Be 18-60 years old
Meet criteria for major depression
Not meet criteria for another psychiatric illness
Not be pregnant |
| Participants will receive: |

Compensation is $50 for the study visit for individuals who qualify. Additional compensation is provided for the follow-up phone call. |
