This is a 6-month study to determine the efficacy of vitamin B3 (also called nicotinamide or niacinamide) in subjects with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Subjects will receive either vitamin B3 at a dose of 3000 mg per day or placebo for 6 months. Study visits will occur monthly to test memory and other cognitive functions. |
| Qualified participants must: |
|
Be at least 50 years of age
Have a diagnosis of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease
Be accompanied to each visit by a friend or relative
Be willing to take either vitamin B3 or a placebo
Can be on stable doses of other Alzheimer's medications |
| Participants will receive: |

Study medication, lab tests, memory and other cognitive tests all at no cost to qualified participants. |
