Qualified participants must: • Have Type 2 Diabetes • Have high blood pressure (hypertension) • Not taking insulin for diabetes • Have no history of diabetic retinopathy or diabetic neuropathy • Be willing to take study medication • Be willing to attend all required study visits • Not currently be taking more than 3 high blood pressure medications • May be newly diagnosed with high blood pressure or have not received any high blood pressure medication in the last 4 weeks • Type 2 diabetics should be on a stable anti-diabetic regimen (NOT taking insulin) OR on a stable diet and exercise for the last 4 weeks Participants will receive: Qualified participants will receive at no charge physical exams, study medication, study related lab work, study related echocardiogram, study related assessment and supervision by a local experienced study physician.
