Study summary: The goal of this study is to compare an investigational drug, icatibant, to a placebo on the time to symptom relief of an acute HAE attack using a tool known as a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), which is a scoring device that you will complete. This study will be conducted in patients with type I and II HAE who are experiencing acute skin, abdominal (stomach), or laryngeal (throat or airway) attacks.
Qualified participants must: • Be 18 years of age or older
• Have a documented diagnosis of type I or II HAE
• There are several other ways the study team will evaluate you, in addition to this brief list
Participants will receive: After signing the Infomed Consent at your first visit and being documented as a type I or II HAE patient, you will be evaluated at your next HAE attack. The evaluation will determine if the attack qualifies for treatment through an injection under the skin of your abdomen. All treatments will be performed in the doctor's office or hospital at no cost to the patient. The study team will reimburse you for time and travel.
