The study is 12 weeks long.
Researchers want to find out if a drug called Valturna (combination of Aliskiren and Valsartan) can help people with high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes. Both medications have been approved by the FDA, but because the participants also have type 2 diabetes, this is considered an investigational use of Valturna.

| Qualified participants must: |
|
Be 18 years of age or older
Have Type 2 diabetes and be on a stable antidiabetic regimen not including insulin. Can be under the control of diet and exercise for at least 4 weeks prior to visit 1
Have hypertension (high blood pressure) |
| Participants will receive: |
|
Physical, labs, monitoring of blood pressure, compensation up to $600.00 for time and travel, medication free of cost, EKG's, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and home blood pressure monitor. |
