This study is 26-weeks long, with 6 visits and 2 phone contacts. Welchol was originally approved by the FDA as a treatment to lower LDL cholesterol. In addition, Welchol has been shown to improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In 2008, Welchol received FDA approval for treatment of T2DM. |
| Qualified participants must: |
|
Be 18 years of age or older
Have a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes
Have not taken any antihyperglycemic agents 3 months prior to screening
Have A1C > 7.5% and <9.5%

| Participants will receive: |
|
Physical, labs, at home blood glucose monitor, compensation up to $750.oo for time and travel, study medication free of cost, EKG, and general diet and exercise guidance. |
