| Study summary: |

DB-DD Placebo controlled parallel group study to assess the efficacy and safety of different doses of Indecaterol in adult patients with persistent asthma, using salmeterol as an active control. |
| Qualified participants must: |
|
Be 18 years of age or older
Have persistent asthma for greater than 12 months
Be on a stable dose for greater than 1 month prior to visit 1 FEV1 >50%<90% at visit 2
Not have a URI within 6 weeks of Visit 1
Not have a history of smoking greater than 10 pack years using greater than 8 puffs of rescue medications per day
