Default Actoplus Met - Diabetes Type 2 Drug

I've been taking Actoplus Met. I have exceptional control under an extremely low dosage, but have had some bad side effects. I'd love to see some trial results. I've made many changes and I'm not sure if the drug or what I'm eating is making the huge difference, so I'd love to see some stats on this drug. I'm almost off of it. Anyone know of any trials on this drug?

If you check out RxList: The Internet Drug Index, they have some information about a controlled clinical trial or two that was done with Actoplus MET.

Quote:
The most common adverse events reported in at least 5% of patients in the controlled 16-week clinical trial between placebo plus metformin and pioglitazone 30 mg plus metformin were upper respiratory tract infection (15.6% and 15.5%), diarrhea (6.3% and 4.8%), combined edema/peripheral edema (2.5% and 6.0%) and headache (1.9% and 6.0%), respectively.

The incidence and type of adverse events reported in at least 5% of patients in any combined treatment group from the 24-week study comparing pioglitazone 30 mg plus metformin and pioglitazone 45 mg plus metformin are shown in Table 4; the rate of adverse events resulting in study discontinuation between the two treatment groups was 7.8% and 7.7%, respectively.
You can also find some info on the drug at eMedTV, and google around for "actoplus met clinical trials" to find some more info on trials done with the drug (try using www.google.com/scholar to dig up some journal articles). For example, here is a cache of a page on Actoplus clinical 'executive summary' that provides some details about past studies.

Hope this helps!
