Summary:

Parents and their children are needed for a study that explores the brain and emotional predictors of resilience to mood problems in children and adolescents. The study takes place in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. You and your child would participate in interviews, your child would do some activities on a computer, and even have a noninvasive MRI scan taken of his/her brain. We are looking for families in which one parent has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder OR families who have no history of any psychiatric disorder (healthy control group).  


Qualified Participants Must:

• Have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder OR have no history of any psychiatric disorders
• Have a healthy child 8-17 years old who does not have braces


Qualified Participants May Receive:

$100-$160 for the baseline visit, $50 for the follow-up.
