Summary:

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the immune response (how the body defends itself against infection) to the Shingrix vaccine in people with renal failure, especially those who subsequently undergo renal transplantation. As part of the study, you will receive the FDA approved Shingrix vaccine, either pre-transplant or combined pre-transplant and post-transplant.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Be in renal failure and on the waitlist for renal transplantation
• Have not had a shingles vaccine or shingles in the last 3 years
• Not currently be on immunosuppressants or have immunosuppressive conditions
• Not have had multi-organ transplantation
• Complete 5-6 visits over the course of up to 32 months
• Receive blood draws and shingles vaccine
