Study Summary:

ICON Development Solutions is conducting a research study of an investigational drug in men and women, 18-75 years old, with type 2 diabetes. The purpose of the study is to test the safety, tolerability and effects of an investigational drug being considered for the treatment of diabetes. The study drug will be given orally in a capsule form.

Vital signs, ECGs, and physical examinations will be performed, and blood and urine samples will be obtained during this study.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Be a type II diabetic
• Be 18-75 years of age
• Be taking at least 1000 mg of Metformin per day to treat diabetes
• Have a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 20 kg/m2 and less than or equal to 40 kg/m2
• If Female, not be pregnant or breastfeeding
• Not be taking any hormonal contraceptives, and/or be unable to become pregnant due to menopause, or have had a hysterectomy, tubal ligation or both ovaries and tubes removed
• Not have been diagnosed with any heart disease or conditions
• Not have any history of stroke or epilepsy
• Not have any history of cancer, or have been in complete remission for the past 5 years prior to screening
• Not have had any gastrointestinal surgery for obesity such as gastric bypass or lap band
• Not have started a weight-loss program within the past 4 weeks, and must not be currently participating in a weight-loss regimen of any kind, including commercial programs such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig
• Not have had any hypoglycemic episode requiring glucose, glucagon or orange juice to be administered by someone else within the past 6 months
• Not have participated in any clinical study in the past 60 days
• Complete 1 screening visit, 2 outpatient visits and 22 overnight stays


Qualified Participants May Receive:

All study related exams at no cost and compensation up to $5,650.00 for time and travel
