Study Summary:

This clinical trial is designed to see if a new study medication when used in combination with either Duloxetine (Cymbalta) or Escitalopram (Lexapro) is better than placebo in treating Major Depression in patients who have failed to respond to one or two prior adequate trials of an antidepressant.

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be between the ages of 18 and 65
• Be depressed for the past 2-36 months
• Be willing to start either Duloxetine or Escitalopram
• Be medically stable
• Have a negative urine drug screen

Qualified Participants May Receive:

Psychiatric and Medical Evaluation including Laboratory Tests, ECG and physical exam free of cost. All study-related medications at no cost. $50.00 compensation per completed study visit.
