Study Summary:

The University of Southern California Swallowing Center is seeking healthy volunteers ages 18 to 69 for a research study on reflux disease. Study includes a brief questionnaire, esophageal manometry studies (studies of the pressure in your esophagus), and ambulatory pH monitoring (measuring the amount of acid in the upper and lower esophagus). A new device for measuring acid and pH changes in the upper esophagus will be used for this study. We hope that this study will lead to better diagnosis of reflux disease in patients with respiratory or upper esophageal symptoms.

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be between 18-69 years of age
• Have no symptoms of heartburn
• Have no difficulty swallowing
• Have no respiratory problems
• Not have history of alcohol or tobacco use.

Qualified Participants May Receive:

$250.00 for completion of the study
