Study Summary:

What is the purpose of this clinical trial?
This clinical trial will evaluate whether people may benefit from a once-daily investigational medication added to it. A twice-daily form of this medication is currently approved for the use in treatment of Type II Diabetes. As this medication is a new formulation (once-daily) and being evaluated in its use for Alzheimer’s Disease, the use of this medication as a treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease is considered investigational.

How long will the study last?
This study consists of a screening period and a treatment period lasting up to 36 weeks. Everyone in the study will be taking either the study medication, Aricept, or a placebo. At some point in the study, everyone will be taking placebo.

Where is the study being conducted?
The study is being conducted at approximately 150 sites across the United States, including here at Regions Hospital. About 862 people are expected to participate nationwide.
