Study Summary:

We are conducing a clinical trial to study the safety and efficacy of inhaled insulin as compared to subjects taking insulin subcutaneously who are Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetics and who are also afflicted with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This is a one year open-label trial.

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be a Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetic having been diagnosed greater than 1 year
• Be 30 to 77 years of age
• Be currently using a stable antidiabetic treatment and insulin therapy
• Have HbA1c 5.5 – 11%
• Have had a documented eye exam within 1 year prior to screening
• Be a current or past smoker with a clinical diagnosis of COPD
• Have use of stable treatment regimen for COPD for 2 months
• Be willing to comply with all study procedures

Qualified Participants May Receive:

Subjects will receive a total of $360 upon study completion, or a prorated amount depending on visit schedule completion. Subjects will receive treatment, laboratory evaluation, and physician visits at no cost to the person or their insurance.
