Clinical Trial 28555

Salt Lake City, UT 84107

Summary:

Do you smoke cigarettes every day?
Do you want to quit smoking now?
If so, you may be able to take part in a clinical research study.

The ASCENT Study is looking at the effectiveness and safety of a potential new nicotine replacement therapy that is taken as a mouth spray as an aid to quitting cigarette smoking. Nicotine is the addictive substance in cigarettes. People who stop smoking sometimes have withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, headaches, feeling irritable and not being able to sleep. Nicotine replacement therapies aim to give you some of the nicotine you would have received from cigarettes, to help you manage these withdrawal symptoms.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • are 18*–85 years of age (*or 19 if this is the legal smoking age in your state)
  • smoke cigarettes every day
  • want to quit smoking using a nicotine replacement therapy
  • are willing to use study medication as your only stop smoking aid during the study
  • are willing to make daily telephone calls to report how much study medication you have used.

Eligible participants receive all study-related health assessments and study-related drugs at no cost.
