Clinical Trial 33649

Philadelphia, PA 19104

Summary:

The University of Pennsylvania’s Schizophrenia Research Center is currently conducting a research study to learn more about how the brain regulates behavior.

In order to be eligible for the study, a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizophreniform, or schizoaffective disorder is required. Additionally, subjects must be between the ages of 18 and 45. All subjects will sign consents and be given a urine drug screen (and for females, a urine pregnancy test) prior to participation.

The study will require two visits to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, on the10th floor of the Gates Pavilion. The first visit will involve some memory and puzzle-like computer games, self-report questionnaires on the computer, and an interview. The second visit will involve self-report questionnaires on the computer, a one-hour fMRI scan, and several computer tasks.

Subjects will be compensated $80 ($40 for the Clinical Evaluation/Assessment and $40 for the Computerized Neurocognitive Battery) for the first visit and $45 for the second visit with the chance to win additional money (up to approximately $15).

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be between 18 and 45 years of age
• Be diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Schizophreniform or Schizoaffective Disorders
• Be able to pass a urine drug screen on both study visits

Qualified Participants May Receive:

$80 for the first study visit and $55 for the second visit with the chance to win additional money (around $10-15 additional). Failing the urine drug screen on either study visit will result in a payment of only $10.
