Summary:

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of Yoga to Memory Enhancement Training in women ages 50 and older with subjective memory complaints and cardiovascular problems. Approximately 100 women will participate in this study.  We will measure cognitive functioning and mood before and after participation in treatment.

If you are eligible, you will be randomly assigned to one of two types of weekly 60-minute classes. You will have a 50% chance of receiving Yoga and a 50% chance of receiving Memory Enhancement Training. We will also have one functional MRI scan before classes begin and then another scan after 12 weeks of treatment. You will be asked to participate in a psychiatric and medical evaluation at the first visit, 6 months, and one year. You will also be asked to complete questionnaires about your mood, daily functioning, and patterns of thinking and memory. If you qualify for the study, the entire study will last up to one year.

Qualified Participants May Receive:

Participants will be compensated up to $250 and reimbursed for parking.
