What is the purpose of the intrigue study?
The purpose of the intrigue study is to evaluate an investigational drug, ripretinib (DCC-2618), as a potential new treatment option for patients living with GIST. The study is being done to learn more about the safety of ripretinib and how well it works against GIST, as compared to Sutent® (sunitinib), in patients whose disease progresses while taking imatinib or have only received prior treatment with imatinib.
What is the investigational drug?
The investigational drug, ripretinib, is an oral medication designed to treat GISTs that are growing because of genetic changes (called mutations). Genes are the instructions that tell a part of your body called a cell what to do. Ripretinib is designed to inhibit signals from genes that cause cancer to grow. As an investigational drug, ripretinib has not been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other regulatory agencies for sale or use by the public.
Sunitinib is approved by the FDA and other regulatory agencies for sale and use by the public.
Who can participate in the intrigue study?
You may be able to participate in this study if you:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Have been diagnosed with GIST and are currently receiving treatment with imatinib only
- Are willing and able to comply with study procedures and restrictions
- There are other criteria that also need to be met to determine if you are able to participate
How long is the intrigue study?
If you are eligible for the study, your participation may last up to 2 years, but may be longer. The actual duration will depend on factors such as how your body responds to treatment and what you and the study doctor think is best for your health and well-being.
Can you see other doctors while participating in the intrigue study?
During the study, you should still see your regular doctors for health care needs not related to the study or participation in the study.
