Summary:
Research studies on substance use disorders are being conducted at The Rockefeller University Hospital. We are currently seeking healthy volunteers without history of substance abuse.
The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility that there are hereditary differences that may be a factor in addictive diseases. We are studying persons who have a history of addictive disease, family members of persons with addictive disease, and persons with no history of addictive disease. The study procedures will include several questionnaires administered by a nurse practitioner to assess your medical and psychological profiles. They will also obtain a detailed history of your family, including the place of birth of your relatives and any medical, mental, or drug abuse problems they may have had. A nurse or medical assistant will put a needle into your arm vein to remove blood. No more than two ounces of blood will be drawn at any clinic visit
Qualified Participants Must:
Be between the ages of 18 and 65
Have no history of alcohol or substance use disorders
Qualified Participants May Receive:
Compensation for participation
