Clinical Trial 47651

Houston, TX 77030

Summary:

This is an NIH funded study.

What is the purpose of the MATCH research study?

We are studying whether having regular video calls with a pharmacist using a smart phone or computer will help adolescents and young adults with asthma to regularly take their prescribed inhaled medications and have fewer asthma symptoms.

What will you be doing?

MATCH will last about 12 months. There are five (5) study visits that will be conducted remotely using video or phone calls. Participants will use sensors on their inhalers to monitor use and will answer an asthma survey on their phone or computer every two (2) weeks. Half of the participants will be randomly selected to have eight (8) video chats with a pharmacist. Purpose of study visits is to determine eligibility, as well as obtain study data and screen for adverse events. Procedures will include questionnaires about your or your adolescent’s asthma symptoms and severity, in addition to lung function testing.

Individuals ages 14 through 30 years who:

-  Have physician diagnosed asthma

-   Have been prescribed inhaled corticosteroid medication

·   Have a smart phone device

·    Do not have other medical conditions that would hinder participation in this research study

Qualified Participants May Receive:

Compensation upon completion of study visits and phone call.
