Summary:

Researchers at The Rockefeller University Hospital are seeking to learn more about brown fat – a ‘good fat’ made by the body that may protect us from conditions such as obesity. Researchers are studying the proteins and hormones the body normally releases into the blood when brown fat is stimulated by cold exposure.

Participation includes:

·         Study visit  1 - conducted via telephone or online (<1 hour)

·         Study visit 2 - conducted in-person study at The Rockefeller University (4-5 hours)

·         Wearing a cooling jacket (which feels cold) for 3 hours

·         Blood work, drawn before and after wearing the cooling jacket



Criteria:

- Be between the ages of 18 and 28

- Not be on any medications except for birth control or vitamins
