Study Summary:

The purpose of these studies is to assess the efficacy and safety of tanezumab for treatment of pain in subjects with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip. The studies will evaluate three dose levels of tanezumab compared to placebo. The study drug will be administered in 3 doses intravenously at 8 week intervals. An open label extension phase will be available for subjects who complete the trial or exit due to lack of efficacy.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Have OA of knee or hip confirmed by x-ray (within 12 months or we will provide)
• Must discontinue all pain medication
• Non-opiate pain meds have not provided relief, or unable to take non-opiate pain medications, or patients are candidate for invasive intervention (surgery or injections)
• Not have significant cardiac or neurologic history


Qualified Participants May Receive:

Qualified participants will receive all study medications, office visits, lab tests, and EKG's at no cost. They will also be reimbursed for travel.
