Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is an aggressive form of fatty liver disease, which is marked by liver inflammation and may progress to liver failure. It can also cause esophageal varices, enlarged veins in the esophagus. Esophageal varices are often due to obstructed blood flow through the portal vein, which carries blood from the intestine, pancreas and spleen to the liver.
ClinCloud is looking for volunteers with NASH cirrhosis for a new research study of an investigational medication designed to prevent the development of esophageal varices.
If you are 18 to 75 years of age and have the following, you may qualify:
· diagnosis of NASH cirrhosis
· no evidence of esophageal varices
