Clinical Trial 5997

San Antonio, TX 78229

Study Summary:

Clinical Trials of Texas, Inc. is participating in a nationwide research study for patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Danone Research, the sponsor of this study, has developed a nutritional drink (medical food) called Souvenaid® for people with AD. This study will evaluate the effect of the nutritional drink compared to a control drink on memory and thinking function in people with mild to moderate-stage AD, who are using medication for their AD symptoms. A "control drink" is a liquid that tastes and looks like the nutritional drink, but does not contain any active ingredients. Another purpose of this study is to see if the nutritional drink is safe and tolerable. This nutritional drink is still being tested and is not approved as treatment for AD by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A total of 500 people with mild to moderate AD will participate in this study. The study will be conducted at approximately 40 study centers in the United States. Participation in the study will last 26-28 weeks.
