Study Summary:

Do you have chronic low back pain? If you are at least 18 years of age and have been experiencing chronic low back pain for the past 3 months or longer, you may qualify to take part in a study of an investigational drug. The primary purpose of this research study is to assess the effectiveness of an investigational drug compared with an approved pain medication in providing relief of chronic low back pain. Study Summary: Those who take part receive an investigational drug or an approved pain medication for 6 weeks and take six pills over the course of a day. A total of 5 office visits will be scheduled during which participants undergo evaluations including physical exam, vital signs, laboratory tests, and assessment of their chronic back pain condition.


Qualified Participants Must:

• be at least 18 years old
• have confirmed symptoms of chronic back pain
• have chronic back pain that has lasted for at least 3 months
• require regular use of pain medication (at least 4 days/week) for the low back pain
• be in generally stable health.
