Study Summary:

The purpose of the study is to collect data using Masimo noninvasive hemoglobin devices in healthy volunteers undergoing a hemodilution procedure designed to create a change in hemoglobin concentration. The measurements from the Masimo devices will be compared to blood draw samples. We will use one unit of blood and replace with 40 cc per kg of fluid to simulate anemia. Qualified Participants Must:

• Be 18 to 35 years of age
• Be in good health not weighing more than 220 lbs
• Have no problems with shortness of breath
• Have no trouble drawing blood or placing an IV
• Not be seeing a cardiologist
• Have no abnormal kidney functions
• Have no problems with lungs
• Not currently be anemic
• Not be pregnant or sexually active without birth control
• Have no skin abnormalities on the fingers such as psoriasis, eczema, angioma, scar tissue, burn, fungal infection, substantial skin breakdown, No nail polish or acrylic nails


Qualified Participants May Receive:

Subjects will be compensated for the time and discomfort involved in study participation. The study takes 2 hours to complete. Each subject will receive $200 for completion of the study. Subjects will receive $0, for completion of pre-screening only, and the full amount for completion of the pre-hemodilution procedure
