Study summary

The PILLAR Study: A Clinical Trial for Patients Diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with an Inhaled Maintenance Triple Therapy.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) - Multiple Locations in the US

Over 65 million people globally have moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include breathing difficulty, coughing, mucus (sputum) production, and wheezing.

Why is the PILLAR study being done?

Although maintenance therapies have improved the lives of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), some individuals on maintenance triple therapy for COPD still have symptoms or experience COPD exacerbations, which can result in a hospital admission. More treatment options are needed to address this issue.

The PILLAR study is being conducted to investigate the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of a new investigational add-on medication that may reduce airway inflammation and improve COPD symptoms in people on maintenance triple therapy.

Can I qualify for the PILLAR study?

To join the PILLAR study, you must meet the study eligibility criteria. You may be eligible to participate in the study if you meet the following criteria:

 • Are 40 years or older
 • Have COPD with chronic bronchitis with current symptoms
 • Be a current or former smoker who quit 6 or more months before entering the study
 • Have had a COPD exacerbation in the past 12 months while on inhaled maintenance triple therapy

Additional eligibility criteria may apply.
