Research Site Introduction:

Dr. Harold Bays is the Medical Director and President of the Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center, Inc. (L-MARC), as well as Your Body Goal.  He has served as a Principal Investigator for over 500 clinical trials of metabolic therapeutic interventions.  Dr. Bays is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology.  He is a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association, The Obesity Society, the American College of Cardiology, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the National Lipid Association, and the American Society of Preventive Cardiology.  Dr. Bays has written or served as a contributing author to over 200 scientific manuscripts and book chapters and authored/presented 100’s scientific abstracts.  He has served as a Board of Director and Executive Officer of Scientific Organizations, served as the Chairman for many scientific projects, and authored a number of Scientific Consensus Statements and National Recommendations.  Dr. Bays is the Chief Science Officer for the Obesity Medicine Association, member of the Board of Trustees of the Obesity Medicine Association, and since 2013, he has served as the medical writer for the Obesity Medicine Association Obesity Algorithm.  Among his awards include the 2015 National Lipid Association “President’s Service Award” and the 2016 Obesity Medicine Association “Obesity Medicine Clinician of the Year.”

The Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center (L-MARC) is a research facility located in Louisville Kentucky.  Since 1986, we have continued to evolve as one of the premier research facilities in the world.  We investigate new treatments for many diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, cholesterol disorders, fats (triglycerides) in the blood, fatty liver, migraine headaches, heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, migraines, high blood pressure, and other metabolic disorders - as well as medical devices.  Our research team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, investigators, research coordinators, nurses, dietitians, recruitment specialists, research phlebotomists, and other research personne
