About Dr. Joel Vandersluis:
Joel Vandersluis, MD, offers adult neurology care to patients in Dayton, Ohio, at Neurology Diagnostics, Inc. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Vandersluis also completed board certification for the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Vandersluis earned his medical degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He rounded out his medical education with residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Afterward, he completed fellowships in electromyography, and headache and pain management at the department of neurology at Case Western Reserve University. He has served as an associate professor at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, and a preceptor at the Ohio University Heritage School of Medicine in Athens. He remains up to date on the latest advancements in his field, and he is affiliated with the American Academy of Neurology, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and the Ohio State Medical Association.
In addition to his busy neurology clinic, Dr. Vandersluis is the Principal Investigator and owner of Neurology Diagnostics Research. Dr. Vandersluis operates and manages a team of highly skilled research coordinators and assistants to provide innovative neurological clinical studies to the Dayton area. Dr. Vandersluis works with well-known prescription drug companies and medical device companies to enroll his patients and community members in trials for neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s Dementia, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Migraine Headaches, and Extrapyramidal Diseases. Recently, Neurology Diagnostics Research was a top enrollment site for an Eli Lily Alzheimer's Phase 3 clinical trial. Dr. Vandersluis and his team enrolled just under 5% of the 272 patients studied world-wide. The trial showed promising results and success in slowing the decline seen in Alzheimer’s dementia patients and is currently undergoing review for FDA approval.
