Study Summary:

Do you have Type 2 diabetes and also have a history of a heart attack, chest pains, bypass surgery, stroke, PAD or other cardiac events? Volunteer for a long-term diabetes research study.

This study will evaluate an investigational medication for Type 2 diabetics who also have a history of heart disease or other cardiac risk factors. Participants will remain on their current Type 2 diabetes medication and may have the study drug added to their current regimen.

To qualify you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have Type II diabetes
  • Have blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C levels that meet the study entry criteria
  • Have a history of a heart attack, chest pains, bypass surgery, stroke, PAD or other medical conditions which are considered cardiac risks
Study Duration: For the 1st year up to 10 office visits. Thereafter an office visit every 14 weeks over approximately 3-4 years.

Qualified participants will receive all the following study-related care at no cost: Study Related:
  • Study medication
  • Physical exams
  • Lab work
  • ECG test
  • Glucometers with test strips
  • Dietary counseling
Volunteers will also receive approximately $1370 or more for their time and travel expenses.
