Summary:

Volunteers for a new Hot Flash research study

Coastal Carolina Research Center is conducting a new clinical research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational non-hormonal, herbal medication for the treatment of hot flashes. Hot flashes vary at different times but may significantly effect a women’s quality of life. This study is testing a “botanical extract” derived from 22 traditional Chinese ingredients. It is in powder form and is mixed with at least 2 ounces of water to drink. Volunteers will be asked to assess whether is helps reduce the number and severity of hot flashes during the course of the study.

If you have some of the following signs and symptoms you may want to contact us:

  • Feeling of warm to strong heat spreading through your upper body and face
  • Perspiration
  • Flushed appearance on face, neck and upper chest
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Wake up from night sweats
To be considered for participation in this research study, you must be a postmenopausal female 40 to 65 years of age. Medical staff at my office will review additional criteria with you to determine if you’re eligible. If you are eligible and decide to participate, you can expect 5 office visits over approximately 20 weeks.

Qualified participants will receive all study related care at no cost including:
  • Study medication
  • Physical & Gynecological exams
  • Mammogram (if needed)
  • Endometrial Biopsy
  • Transvaginal Ultrasound (if needed)
  • Lab work
  • Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
Monetary compensation of up to $300 is available for time and travel expenses.
