Volunteers needed for Gout clinical research study
Coastal Carolina Research Center is seeking volunteers for a research study evaluating an approved gout medication over a 6 months of treatment. The study will assess whether the drug helps lower uric acid levels, reduce the incidence of gout flares and lead to a better quality of life. If you suffer from gout, then you may qualify.
To be considered for participation in this research study, you must be between the ages of 18 and 85, have a medical history of gout, and have had at least 2 gout flares over the past year. Medical staff at my site will review additional criteria with you to determine if you’re eligible.
If you are eligible and decide to participate, you can expect 8 to 9 office visits over 6 months. All study-related care will be at no cost and will include the following:
- Study medication
- Physical exams
- Lab tests
- ECG
Everyone will receive the study medication and there are no inactive placebos during the study treatment. Monetary compensation up to $425 will be available for your time and travel expenses.
