Summary:
This study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of 2 FDA approved medications as a fixed-dose combination medication for patients with stage 1 or 2 hypertension. Previously diagnosed patients with a diastolic blood pressure of 90-109 and newly diagnosed patients at 95-109. You will be asked to wear a blood pressure cuff on 2 different appointments for a 24 hr period. Some appointments require you to fast and are to be scheduled in the morning. Your 1st inital appointment will take approxamently 2hrs. If you are enrolled into the study, two additional visits will require you to stay between 2 and 4 hrs after taking the study medication. The study is a 16 week study with up to 15 visits at the Boise office.
Qualified Participants Must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Have been diagnosed with stage 1 or stage 2 essential hypertension
Be currently being treated for hypertension, or newly diagnosed with hypertension, or previously diagnosed and not on medication for at least 4 weeks
Have diastolic number (bottom) running between 90 and 110
Qualified Participants May Receive:
Compensation for time and travel if all regular scheduled visits have been completed.
