Summary:
Do you suffer from Constipation associated with or without Abdominal Pain and/or Discomfort? Have you ever been told you have Chronic Constipation or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? If so, and you are a female between the age of 18-55, you may qualify to participate in a UCLA research study conducted by Dr. Lin Chang. The main purpose of the study is to examine the expression of certain receptors and the molecules that bind to the receptor in the large intestinal walls of patients with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation and chronic constipation.
Qualified Participants Must:
Be between the ages of 18 and 55
Be female
Have IBS associated with constipation OR chronic constipation
Complete a 2.5 hour screening visit and 1.5 hour test session
Qualified Participants May Receive:
Free physical examination and large intestine examination. The large intestine examination involves passing a flexible tube with video capabilities through the anus and about one third of the large intestine. Compensation is up to $125.
