Summary:

Participation involves taking the investigational study drug, elobixibat or placebo, once a day throughout the study dosing period. Study participants will track constipation symptoms, medication use and bowel movements using a study-provided electronic diary.

The study requires you to:

  1. Be 18 years of age or older
  2. Have a history of constipation for at least 6 months
  3. Not know the cause of your constipation (for example, it is not caused by diet, medicines you are taking, or other medical conditions)
  4. Have less than 3 bowel movements per week (when not using laxatives)
  5. In the past 3 months occasionally (about 25% of the time) have had 1 or more of the following symptoms:

    • Straining during a bowel movement
    • Hard or lumpy stools
    • Feel like you haven’t completely emptied your bowel
