Summary:

We are conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational study drug in patients with moderate to very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The study would provide you with study related clinic visits, physical examinations, pulmonary function tests and lab tests, as well as the study drug at no cost. Study participation does not require insurance, nor are there any co-pays or deductibles. You may receive reasonable compensation for your time and travel expenses if you are eligible for participation in the study. Study participants will have 12 visits over a period of up to approximately 3 years unless the study is concluded at an earlier date. Study visits will take place at our research center.

To Participate you must:

Be a current smoker, over the age of 40, with diagnosis of COPD, and have had

  • Stroke
  • TIA (mini-stroke symptoms that goes away in less than a day)
  • Blockage of carotid artery
  • Angina (chest pain caused by your heart)
  • Heart attack (MI)
  • Angioplasty (opening or widening of clogged arteries)
  • Placement of a stent in a heart vessel
  • Bypass surgery
  • Peripheral vascular disease (e.g. PAD)
  • Claudication

or

Do you meet any two of the following criteria:
  • Male 65 years of age –OR- female 70 years of age
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol or triglycerides
  • Low HDL “good cholesterol)
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Waist circumference 40 inches for males or 38 inches for females


Qualified Participants May Receive:

$50 per completed visit.
