Summary:

This is a Randomized Phase 2, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Treat-to-Target, Parallel-group, 3-arm, Multicenter Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Canagliflozin as Add-on Therapy to Insulin in the Treatment of Subjects with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Canagliflozin is already approved for use in the United States for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

In type 1 diabetes, you already know that numbers such as your blood sugar levels and body weight are important, every day. This clinical research study aims to discover how blood sugar levels and body weight are affected when a study medicine is taken orally (by mouth), in addition to insulin. The study is also trying to discover how the study medication affects health in other ways. We are looking for volunteers with type 1 diabetes, who fit the requirements, to participate in the study.

You may qualify for inclusion to the study if you:

  • Are 25–65 years old
  • Have a medical history of type 1 diabetes for at least 1 year
  • Currently receive at least 0.6 IU/kg of

Qualified participants will receive study medication, compensation. There is no charge for the study medication and study-related medical care. In addition, your travel expenses to the study center may be reimbursed.
