Summary:
Stopped by Constipation?
You may be eligible to participate in a clinical research study evaluating an investigational drug for chronic idiopathic constipation, which is constipation without a known cause.
If you’ve been diagnosed with chronic idiopathic constipation, you know that your treatment options are often limited. Available medications can cause side effects, and most over-the-counter medications are designated to treat occasional constipation, not chronic constipation.
Discovery Clinical Trials currently is conducting a clinical research study for people diagnosed with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC). The study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug called linaclotide that is taken orally once a day.
To pre-qualify for this study, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Report < 3 bowel movements per week
- Report one or more of the following symptoms during the last 3 months with onset at least 6 months ago
- Straining during ≥ 25% of bowel movements
- Lumpy or hard stools during ≥ 25% of bowel movements
- Sensation of incomplete evacuation during ≥ 25% of bowel movements
All study-related visits, tests and study drugs or placebo will be provided to participants at no cost. Reimbursement for time and travel also may be provided.
