Summary:
Although there are treatments available for fibromyalgia-associated pain, not everyone is able to experience relief and some still experience intolerable side effects. That's why we're looking for people with fibromyalgia to join ALDAY - a medical research study evaluating an investigational drug for the pain associated with fibromyalgia.
Medical research studies are scientific investigations that shape the future of medicine. They do this by showing how investigational drugs affect human volunteers. In this way, we learn about both the drug and the disease in question. Each volunteer is closely monitored and an independent review board is appointed to monitor participant safety.
The ALDAY medical research study will evaluate an investigational drug for pain associated with fibromyalgia. Participants will take the oral investigational drug, an approved neuropathic pain treatment or a placebo (a substance containing no medication) for around 13 weeks. You will not know or be able to choose which group you are assigned to, but every participant will receive the same close monitoring throughout via regular clinic visits and the occasional telephone call.
All study related drugs and assessments will be provided at no cost to participants - study related time and travel costs may also be reimbursed.
Although the investigational drug has not been approved for public use, it has been shown to be safe and well tolerated in other research studies.
Taking part in medical research is entirely voluntary - your healthcare will not be adversely affected if you don't want to take part.
Qualified Participants Must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Have been experiencing the same level of pain for at least 3 months
Have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia or think you may have the condition
