Summary:
Osteoarthritis is the most common kind of arthritis which happens when the cartilage that protects the end of your bones wears down. This leads to symptoms like pain and stiffness. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint in your body, including knees and hips.
TANGO is a clinical research study for osteoarthritis pain. The TANGO studies are for people with pain from osteoarthritis in a hip or knee. These studies will assess the effects of Tanezumab, the investigational study drug, to find out how safe and effective it is in treating osteoarthritis pain. Arthritis affects millions of people worldwide.
Tanezumab will be compared with either a placebo (dummy drug) or an NSAID depending on the study. A placebo looks like the study drug but does not contain any drug. NSAIDs are a group of medications that relieve pain. NSAIDs also help to reduce inflammation and lower fevers.
