Summary:

Available medications can cause side effects, and most over-the-counter medications are designed to treat occasional constipation, not chronic constipation.
Local doctors are currently conducting a clinical research study for people with Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC). They want to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug called plecanatide that is taken orally once a day.
Qualified Participants Must:
Be between 18 and 80 years of age
Have chronic constipation for at least 3 months prior to the study
Have a history of fewer than 3 bowel movements per week
Qualified Participants May Receive:
All study related visits, test, and study drugs will be provided to participant at no cost. Reimbursement for travel may also be provided.
