Summary:

Pharmacorp Clinical Trials is conducting a Gout study comparing 2 marketed drugs to evaluate their safety in patients with comorbid cardiovascular disease.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Be 50 years of age or older, if male
• Be 55 years of age or older, if female
• Have cardiovascular risk such as heart attack, stents/bypasses, stroke, hospitalized transient ischemic attack (TIA-mini stroke), peripheral vascular disease or Diabetes with eye or kidney issues
• Have gout with more than one attack in the last year OR uric acid levels above a certain number at screening
• Stop taking current gout therapy in order to switch to study medications
• Not have severe kidney disease


Qualified Participants May Receive:

Study medication at no cost (no placebo in this study), study provided gout prophylaxis (preventative) medication, study procedures at no cost including ECG's, blood work and physicals, and compensation for time and travel.
