Summary:
Southeast Clinical Research is conducting a clinical research study of an investigational drug for Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation (IBS-C). IBS-C is characterized by recurrent episodes of abdominal pain and discomfort with associated alterations in bowel habits. The most widely accepted definition for IBS-C is recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort at least 3 days per month for the last 3 months that is improved with defecation, associated with a change in the frequency of stool or associated with a change in the appearance of stool.
Qualified Participants Must:
Have IBS or IBS-C
Be between 18 and 85 years of age
Not be taking opiate pain medications
Be willing to have a colonoscopy
Be willing and able to complete daily electronic diary entries concerning your bowel activity
Be willing and able to complete episodic telephone calls concerning your bowel movements
