Clinical Trial 35119

Sacramento, CA 95821

Summary:

Currently there is no treatment available that slows or cures memory loss. Researchers are studying new strategies to prevent the disease from progressing. The purpose of the study is to test two drugs, cromolyn sodium and ibuprofen, to see if it can help with memory loss. Both medications have been approved by the FDA since the 1970’s for treatment of other illnesses. These two drugs have never been tested as a combination treatment for memory loss. In order to participate you must have a qualified study partner in this study. A qualified study partner is a person (spouse, adult child, or other) who has an average of 10 hours/week of contact with you and who can accompany you to all clinic visits for the duration of the study. The study is a year and half long and there will be 7 visits throughout that time.

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be between 55 and 79 years of age
• Have 8 or more years of education (any type of schooling)
• Have a study partner
• Have good general health
• Be fluent in English

Qualified Participants May Receive:

All study related visits, tests, and study medication will be provided to the participant at no cost. Compensation for time and travel may also be provided.
