The SELECT Study is being done to see if semaglutide can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke. Previous studies of semaglutide have shown that using semaglutide reduced the risk of cardiovascular events in some people with type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide is already approved in some countries at a lower dose, to treat type 2 diabetes. The SELECT study will examine the effect of semaglutide in people with established cardiovascular disease and obesity or overweight. 


Qualified Participants Must:

• Be 45 years old or older
• Be overweight and have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 27 or higher
• Must have established heart disease for example Heart Attack or Stroke
• Must NOT have diabetes


Qualified Participants May Receive:

You will not have to pay for the following things - as long as you stay in the study:

• Study medicine

• Study-related visit costs are covered (no co-pay, insurance is not necessary)

• Laboratory Tests and Reports. ECG Tests and Reports.

• Talks with the study staff about healthy food and exercise and what you can do to have a healthy lifestyle

• The study medication will not be provided for free when the study ends. You will need to discuss with your doctor which treatment you should have when the study ends.

 

You will receive $30 for each visit you completed and $10 for Follow-up phone contact (visit 26). A completed visit means all scheduled study procedures have been carried out. You will be paid at each visit.
