Summary:

Is Type 2 Diabetes Impacting your Everyday Life?
If you are over 18 years old this study may be for you.

Study for Adults with
Chronic Type 2 Diabetes
Researchers from the City University of New York is currently looking for individuals to participate in a usability test and behavioral study using an innovative mobile health application. Adults 18 years and older who qualify for the study will be asked to use the SIPPA mobile app that will allow Researchers to measure individual efficacy for self-management of diabetes, and to measure adherence to physician prescribed treatment plans.
Participants will receive:

Upon full completion, participant will receive $50 for the usability study, and $100 for the behavior study.

Patients will be provided, at no cost with devices necessary to participate in the study, including glucose meters and strips and blood pressure monitoring devices and temporary loan of an Android smart phone

Location and Contact Information: All sessions and appointments will be in Brooklyn NY.

Are you eligible?
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Perceived risk of developing, or already developed, diabetes and possibly additional chronic diseases.
  • Education attainment of at least high school diploma or beyond.
  • Interested in obtaining health data from, and sharing the health data with, the care providers.
  • Possess basic knowledge in using an android device for internet connection and online activities such as emailing, texting, surfing the web and file transfer.
  • Study Duration: 3-4 months
  • An initial 3 hour training, follow-up Q & A sessions and periodic surveys.
  • On average, 5 to 10 minutes of daily interaction with the mobile app.
  • End of study debriefing interview.
